There was threat to Ramdev’s life, says Delhi Police New Delhi, June 5 “There were intelligence inputs about threat to his life and hence, we had to remove him immediately,” said Dharmender Kumar, Special Commissioner (Law and Order), while addressing a press conference today evening. Kumar had come up with the “threat theory” barely minutes after he initially told the media that the police action was taken because Ramlila Maidan was accommodating far more people than authorised by the police. The Delhi police also denied lathi-charge by the officials and blamed Ramdev’s supporters for indulging in stone-pelting to provoke action. Kumar said more than 23 police personnel were injured in the incident. Meanwhile, the police also registered a case of rioting, damage to public property and obstruction of public servants in discharge of public duties against unknown persons at the Kamla Market police station. The police also imposed section 144 (prohibitory orders) of the CrPC in the area in and around Ramlila Maidan.
