Lucknow, December 7
Former Chief Secretary of Uttar
Pradesh Neera Yadav was today arrested following a CBI special
court in Ghaziabad convicting her in a land scam case and awarding
her a four-year jail term. The once senior most bureaucrat of the
state was found guilty of being involved in a massive land scam in
Noida during her 1994-96 tenure as the chairperson-cum-chief
executive of the Noida Development Authority. |

founder arrested in London
London, December 7
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange
handed himself in to British police on Tuesday after Sweden issued a
warrant for his arrest over allegations of sex crimes, London’s
Metropolitan Police said. Assange, whose WikiLeaks website is at the
centre of a row over the release of secret US diplomatic cables, was
arrested under a European Arrest Warrant.

After Vodafone Essar, it is now the
turn of other two major GSM mobile operators, Bharti Airtel and Idea
Cellular, to fire a salvo at dual technology operators Tata Teleservices
and Reliance Communications, in what is a sequence of the recent war of
words that erupted after Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata accused GSM
operators of “hoarding spectrum”.
