PJ ThomasCentral Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) PJ Thomas today opted out of monitoring the CBI investigations in the 2G Spectrum scam, but was non-committal on the demand that he should quit in the light of Supreme Court questioning his continuance in the post despite various charges levelled against him.

In a major step, the government today moved a Bill in the Parliament for setting up a National Judicial Oversight Committee for going into allegations of misconduct against Judges of the High Courts(HC) and the Supreme Court(SC)and imposing “minor penalties” or recommending removal from office.

Sanjay KumarChandigarh Administrator Shivraj Patil has recommended immediate and strict action against UT Finance Secretary Sanjay Kumar. Patil, who is also the Governor of Punjab, is believed to have sent a strongly worded note to the Ministry of Home Affairs recommending action against Sanjay Kumar, a 1987 batch IAS officer of the Punjab cadre who is on deputation to the Chandigarh Administration.
