India, China discuss boundary differences

Ahead of Premier Wen Jiabao’s New Delhi visit, India and China today explored ways to resolve the vexed boundary issue as the special representatives of the two countries held the 14th round of border talks here.

Governor briefs PM on situation in Valley

Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra has met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P Chidambaram and discussed with them the situation in the state.Vohra met the PM on Saturday and briefed him about the security situation in the sensitive state and the steps being taken to maintain normalcy there. The Governor also met National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon. (

China threat makes India focus on Myanmar border 
New Delhi, November 29
China’s growing presence in Myanmar and its long-term impact on the north-eastern states has made Delhi decide that it will have a permanent and dedicated border guarding force all along the 1643-km Indo-Myanmar border. The BSF that guards the sensitive Indo-Pak and the Indo-Bangladesh border may be asked to do the job. The Cabinet Committee on Security will take a final call on the matter which is aimed at curbing cross-border movement of drugs, arms and militants.

To assuage the tempers of the Opposition, which has stalled proceedings in Parliament for 12 days now, the government today decided to crack down on the start-up telecom companies, which were granted licences in 2008.

Radia Tapes
Govt orders probe as Tata moves SC
New Delhi, November 29
The government today ordered a probe into the leaks of recorded tapes of conversations between corporate lobbyist Nira Radia, her clients and certain journalists among others. Home Ministry sources said the probe would be conducted by the Intelligence Bureau and the Central Board for Direct Taxes (CBDT) and will focus on finding out who leaked it and how.
