Amritsar
Girl raped
: A 22-years-old girl of Talwandi Sipahi Mal village in Amritsar rural police was allegedly raped by her neighbours on October 20 evening. The police has booked Kulbir Singh and Kallu, both her neighbourer under section 376, 34 of the IPC. The victim in her complaint alleged that the Kallu called her to his house saying that her wife had a severe pain in her chest. “As soon as I went to their house, the other accused Kulbir Singh who was sitting there caught and raped her,” stated the victim. She alleged Kallu also repeated raped her. 

Moga
RI awarded
: The additional district and sessions judge of Moga Raj Shekhar Attri has sentenced two drug peddlers to 10-year of rigorous imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs one lakh on them for smuggling poppy husk. 

Phagwara
Six pilgrims injured
: Six pilgrims coming from Dera Radha Swami, Beas, sustained injuries when a bus carrying them rammed into a parked truck near Chiheru on the national highway last evening. The injured were returning to Ludhiana from Beas after participating in a satsang.

Tarn Taran
3 booked
: Amrik Singh, leader of the Kisan Sangharsh Committee and resident of Kotli Saru Khan village, 30 km from here, and his two associates have been booked for threatening the Tehsildar, Khadur Sahib, and interfering in his government duty. The Tehsidar in a complaint to the police alleged that the trio came to the office with a document writer to get a piece of land registered on Thursday afternoon. Thursday was declared half day by the state government. When the kisan leader was told about it, he forced the Tehsildar to do the job. In the complaint, the Tehsildar alleged that the accused interfered in his official duty and also threatened him.

Two held with 5 kg of opium:The Bhikhiwind police has seized 5 kg of opium from two persons at two different nakas installed in the area.The SSP, Preetpal Singh Virk, said here today that cases under Sections 18, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act had been registered against Tarsem Singh of Tarsikki village, Ferozpore, and Ajit Singh of Marrar, Batala. The police seized 2.5 kg of opium from each accused.
