Dengue: Private hospitals using substandard kits?
Ludhiana, October 8
Denying reports of private hospitals regarding positive dengue cases, the district health authorities have accused private hospitals of using substandard kits to carry out the tests.The district epidemiologist, Dr GP Mangla, stated that a majority of the hospitals were using substandard kits manufactured by a specific pharmaceutical which did not give accurate results.

Dr Ambedkar Vichar Manch has filed an FIR against author Nita Mukherjee and publisher of the book “The Story of Valmiki” for addressing Valmiki as “robber”. This, it argued, despite the fact that the Punjab and Haryana High Court had passed a verdict contradicting the fable about Valmiki being a robber.

Dugri residents concerned over rising crime

Samrala, October 8
A resident of Sihala village died under mysterious circumstances last night. The man, identified as Rampal Singh (48), was working as a labourer.He was found lying near his house at 7.30 pm yesterday.

Stray dog mauls two children

Two children sustained injuries after being attacked by a stray dog near Bhai Vir Singh gurdwara. One of the victims, identified as Pari, a daughter of doctor couple, and Khushi, a daughter of a social activist, were rushed to a multi-specialty hospital in Ludhiana.

A dug-up road near Rose Garden in Ludhiana The road dug up by a telecom company for lying cables near Rose Garden is hindering the smooth flow of the traffic. The company had dug up the road a few days ago, but failed to re-carpet it. A huge mound of mud could be seen lying in the middle of the road just opposite to the PAU gate No 4.

Woman, daughter held for worker’s murder

The mother and daughter duo, who had once spread terror in and around Kup Kalan village, are cooling their heels behind the bars ultimately.Identified as Paramjit Kaur and her daughter Mandeep Kaur, the duo along with their accomplice; were booked under Section 302 of the IPC for allegedly killing Tula Singh, a worker at a private factory at Kup Kalan village.

Sheller owner booked for siphoning off paddy

In a development that may blow the lid off a multi-crore scam, the police has booked a sheller owner for siphoning off paddy worth Rs 1.92 crore. The paddy belonged to the state government-run Pungrain.
