Fogging intensified in Sector 15

Following the recent outbreak of dengue fever in Sector 15 health officials have ordered intensive fogging to be conducted in the area. A survey of houses to trace breeding grounds of mosquitoes in the sector will also be undertaken.

100 donate blood

A blood donation camp was organised by the Chandigarh Press Club in association with Sarv Mangal Jyoti, an NGO, here on Sunday. More than 100 donors turned up at the camp.

PU to implement rainwater harvesting soon
Chandigarh, September 19
Panjab University has become the first university in the region to initiate rainwater harvesting on rooftop of all buildings in the campus. In a meeting held two days ago at PU campus, Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) officials interacted with university faculty members and project coordinators, following which sponsorship worth Rs 8 crore was approved for the project.

Railways parcel booking services at Ambala Cantonment railway station have been reportedly deteriorating each day causing inconvenience to a large number of customers.

Kalka hospital to have casualty dept
Kalka, September 19
The Community Health Centre-cum-Civil Hospital, Kalka, which was upgraded to IPHC Hospital, will now have its own casualty department soon. The construction work of the building is in full swing. Vikas Chauhan, officiating SMO of the hospital, said under the project, a mini operation theater (OT) was also being constructed.

Man dies performing stunt on bike
Kurali, September 19
Satnam Singh (25), a resident of Jhallian Khurd village from Ropar, died this morning while performing a stunt on his motorcycle. Satnam was known for performing stunts such as standing on moving bike. Today in the morning, he was going back to his village after paying obeisance at Daun Gurdwara village.

Speeding car mows down cyclist
Bassi Pathana, September 19
A cyclist, on his way to Wazidpur village, was killed on-the-spot when a speeding car hit him from behind on the Bassi Pathana-Morinda road last night and the driver of the car fled. According to the police, Amar Singh, resident of Bhawani village in Ropar, was working at Wazidpur village with a farmer.

2 hurt in mishaps
Chandigarh, September 19
Two persons were injured in separate road accidents in the city. A pedestrian, identified as Pawan Kumar, a resident of Patiala, was injured after being hit by a motorcycle near the post office at the Punjab and Haryana High Court on September 6. He was admitted to a hospital.

‘Kangaroos’ to reach city today

“Kangaroos” will be landing in the city tomorrow afternoon. The Australian team, being led by Ricky Ponting, is scheduled to play the first test of the Indo-Aussie series at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium on October 1.
