At least 20 junior doctors at the Junior doctors at Government Multi-specialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh, protest against the indictment of their colleagues in the Bulbul case, on Thursday. Government Multi-specialty Hospital, Sector 16, proceeded on mass leave today in protest over the indictment of some of their colleagues in the inquiry held into the recent death of a newborn baby at the hospital.

Class VII boy arrested
Chandigarh, September 9
In what comes across as the first concrete step towards curtailing the ongoing slapgate in UT government schools, the UT police today arrested the class VII boy who had slapped his teacher yesterday for asking him for his homework.

Army man gets life for murder attempt on wife

A local court today sentenced an Indian army constable to life imprisonment for attempting to kill his wife besides harassing her for dowry. The convict, Baljinder Singh, is posted in the army western command at Chandimandir, near here.

Narrow road cause of mishap

The 2-kilometer narrow road near MM University, Mullana, in Ambala district seemed to be the main cause of yesterday’s bus accident, in which 28 students and teachers were injured.Drivers are normally seen vying with each other to reach the institution in time.

PTU to start incubation centres

Man booked for fraud

Liquor worth ` 5.5 lakh seized

The police once again seized 339 cases of Indian-made foreign liquor worth over Rs 5.5 lakh being smuggled from Chandigarh to other states here today.On a tip-off, the police laid a naka on the Panchkula-Yamunanagar National Highway-73 and stopped the truck no. One-day police remand for Goyal
Mohali, September 9
A senior Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officer TK Goyal, who was yesterday arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a Kapurthala resident, was today sent in a one-day police remand. After being produced before Mohali Civil Judge (Senior Division) Jaswinder Singh, the public prosecutor on behalf of the Vigilance Bureau sought permission to carry out searches at his residence.
