Shah sent to judicial custody

Ahmedabad, August 8
The CBI today completed two-day custodial interrogation of former Gujarat Minister Amit Shah, arrested in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, who was later remanded to judicial custody.

After grilling Shah for over eight hours, the CBI produced him before Chief Additional Judicial Magistrate AY Dave at his residence who sent him to judicial custody till August 21.

Before sending Shah to judicial custody, the Magistrate asked him whether he wanted to say something. He replied he had nothing to tell the court.

Shah will now be lodged in the Sabarmati Central Jail.

Shah, who was kept in a lock-up at the CBI office last night in Gandhinagar, was brought for interrogation at the agency’s office at the Old Secretariat Campus.

He was grilled by the CBI for over nine hours yesterday.

The High Court set aside a lower court order and remanded the former Minister of State for Home to two-day CBI custody yesterday. — PTI
