In a new twist in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, eight accused Gujarat police officers, including former DIG DG Vanzara, have opposed another accused, ACP NK Amin, turning approver in the case.

Former Sports Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar today again took on Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi with a comment that he would be “unhappy” if the October mega event was successful.

Known more for his sartorial elegance than elegant turn of phrase, so dear in the diplomatic firmament, Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna was not an obvious choice as External Affairs Minister. He has, however, eclipsed his more erudite junior minister who was caught on a slippery IPL wicket, and his poised handling of the mine-field that Indo-Pak talks become added to his stature even as the negotiations were unsuccessful. The buzz is that Krishna is a winner
