Government mulls investing more in Air India: Praful Patel
India's Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel on Sunday said that the government would consider putting more capital into state-run Air India if the national carrier improves its operational performance. The government has put 8 billion rupees into Air India in the last fiscal year and has so far allocated 12 billion rupees in its current fiscal budget to help the airline reduce its losses and debt, which has been mounting. Patel said Air India currently has working capital debt of 180 billion rupees.

Amit Shah, Gujarat’s former minister of state for home on Sunday was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Gandhinagar.

Kashmir unrest suspends Indo-Pak trade
The forum of traders in Kashmir have suspended cross border trade with neighbouring Pakistan administered Kashmir through the Line of Control (LoC) for the past one week. This in turn has upset one of the major bilateral confidence-building modes to improve ties between India and Pakistan. Speaking to the media persons at Srinagar on Sunday, a trader attributed this suspension to recent unrest in the valley. The trade between the two parts of Kashmir started in 2008 after the demand of the Kashmiris for an alternative trade route for business purpose.

Nation salutes martyrs; martyr's parents await justice
While India's defence services saluted the bravery of the soldiers who were martyred during the Kargil War with Pakistan in 1999, the parents of a martyr whose body had been mutilated by Pakistani forces still await justice. Defence Minister A. K. Antony on Monday paid tribute to the 'Kargil martyrs' at the Amar Jawan Jyoti in New Delhi on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. After the ceremony, Antony refuted the claim that politicians had given a lukewarm response to the sacrifices of the soldiers.

BJP refutes
PM, says CBI pressured by centre
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has refuted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's assertion that the Centre has no role to play in the Sohrabbudin case probe and is not misusing the CBI for vendetta
politics. BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu accused the Centre of double
standards, saying that while Jagdish Tytler was recently given a clean chit by the CBI in the 1984 Sikh riots
case, the same agency has arrested Amit Shah in the Sohrabuddin, pointing out that both decisions had been politically expedient for the Congress.
