Villagers seek closure of liquor vend: Irked over shifting of a liquor vend near the Sivia near Goniana, residents of the village on Saturday staged a dharna demanding its closure. Men and women of the village squatted outside the vend demanding its lifting from there. The liquor vend was recently shifted on the Bathinda-Sivia road from the bus stand. They warned that the agitation would continue till the vend was shut by the authorities.

OBC distributes coins: The Oriental Bank of Commerce organised a function here today to distribute coins in the denominations of Re 1, Rs 2 and Rs 10 amounting to Rs 1.50 lakh among general public. Assistant general manager, RBI, Chandigarh, JB Mangla inaugurated the function. He said the event aimed at facilitating people to get coins as per their day-to-day needs.
