One held with poppy straw:
The Miran Sahib police seized 3.5 kg of poppy straw and arrested a narcotics smuggler from Kullian village on Sunday. The police said an auto-rickshaw (JK-02-R-6597) going to Jammu from RS Pura was intercepted at a naka at Kullian village and Sohan Lal, alias Sonu, a resident of Charkha village, was arrested with narcotics, it added. A case under section 8/15 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Miran Sahib police station.

Two bodies recovered: The Jammu police on Monday recovered two bodies from the Narwal area here. The police said a CRPF jawan, Sukhbir Singh (45),a resident of Rajasthan, was found dead under mysterious circumstances from the washroom of a transit camp in Channi here on Monday. In another incident, the body of a man in his mid-thirties was found from near Panama Chowk. The Narwal police has initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC.

Anti-adulteration drive: The Jammu Municipal Corporation on Monday conducted an anti-adulteration drive in which they lifted 12 milk canes in different areas and sent these samples to laboratory for checking the quality of milk. The drive was conducted by Dr. Vireshwar Sharma, Municipal Veterinary Officer, along with field staff in the areas of Jewel, Satwari, Gangyal, Narwal and Nai Basti. The team realised a fine of Rs 2,350 from the erring milk vendors.
