Foreign varsities won't infringe Indian laws: Sibal
While addressing the inaugural session at a conference 'Tomorrow's North: Green and Educated North' in New Delhi on Tuesday India's Minister of Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal said that with the passage of the proposed Foreign Educational Institutions Bill in the parliament, foreign universities will get as much autonomy as private institutions of India get in the country.

After dig at Jaya, Amar now rallies behind Big B
Former general secretary of Samajwadi Party (SP) Amar Singh shared the dais with Amitabh Bachchan and defended him on Tuesday, two days after taking a dig at MP and BigB’s wife Jaya Bachchan. Singh was critical of those who criticized the star for his association with Narendra Modi-ruled Gujarat as brand ambassador of the state.

Shoaib Malik, Sania Mirza all set for cross-border wedding
Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik and Indian tennis player Sania Mirza, two of South Asia's well-known sportspersons, are all set to marry in April. Sania disclosed this in Hyderabad on Tuesday terming it as a happy occasion. To a poser whether she will be at 'home' in the Middle East, Mirza said that it is like her second home since she has been playing frequently at Dubai.

Communal Violence Bill to be passed by 2010 end: Chidambaram
Addressing members during a conference on the Minority Commission in New Delhi on Wednesday Home Minister P Chidambaram announced that a law to deal with communal violence, with due amendments, would be passed by the end of year 2010.This decision comes in the wake of the recent incidents of communal riots in Bareilly and Hyderabad that led to unnecessary loss of life. Meanwhile, the Home Minister also said that reservation was the most effective tool in protecting the rights of the minority community.
