Nawanshahr, March 6 It is pertinent to mention here that Sandeep, alias Sethi, was working as a salesman at their shop at Balachaur in the district and he died under mysterious circumstances on May 28, 2008. The family members of the deceased youth had accused the Jain family of torturing him to death. The leaders belonging to different political parties constituted a Joint Action Committee and started a stir to initiate action against the Jain family in the case. The Joint Action Committee split in two groups and the leaders of the ruling SAD-BJP alliance, as well as the opposition parties, started leveling allegations and counter allegations on each other for hobnobbing with the accused in the murder case. The stir had even turned violent, when during a protest rally by the Joint Action Committee at Balachaur, the mob attacked the then Balachaur SDM and Tehsildar. Cases against leaders of different political parties and unknown persons were also registered for attacking the government officials and damaging their vehicles.
