PU set to implement teachers’ evaluation

Marked as ‘area development projects’, a rapid environmental impact assessment study is mandatory for them according to the environment ministry guidelines.

Cold wave takes its toll on residents’ health
Chandigarh, January 12
The sudden dip in temperature is taking its toll on the health of Chandigarhians. If cold and cough have become common, doctors are reporting a rise in the number of people with symptoms of sinusitis, acute bronchitis and even pneumonia. And, the low temperatures are affecting heart patients too. “A number of patients have to be admitted to the ICU with respiratory troubles caused by the sudden chill. This problem has compounded in the past seven days,” said a senior doctor of the PGI.

MC forgets its theme for Lohri celebrations

It seemed that the Municipal Corporation forgot its own slogan “Say no to violence against women and girl child”, which it had decided as the theme for Lohri celebrations at one of its meetings.

Probe ordered against lecturer for ‘harassing’ student

Lohri celebrated
Chandigarh, January 12
Prof Pt Yash Paul, Punjab state Ratana awardee, and Parvesh Sethi, eminent drama artiste, were among 200 members, who participated in the Lohri celebrations organised by the Chandigarh Senior Citizens’ Brotherhood, Sector 37. Members of the society sang songs and also cracked jokes. The celebrations ended in a traditional way by singing and dancing around the fire. — TNS

Allowing the revision petition by setting aside the orders of a magistrate, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Ravi Kumar Sindhi today ordered him to direct the police to lodge an FIR against advocate NK Jain and Naresh Batra under Section 156/3 of the CrPC.

Harinder fashions GNPS & CCA-36 win

Harinder’s quick fire 82 helped GNPS and CCA - 36 win the U-11 BTS and Saupins Cricket Tournament concluded at the BTS Cricket Academy, Sector 48, here, today. After winning the toss, GNPS and CCA-36 elected to bat first and put up a modest total of 184 runs for the loss of two wickets in their stipulated 20 overs.
