PAU pensioners threaten to move HC

While, non-teaching employees of the university have suspended their agitation last week to demand revised pay scales following assurances from the Punjab government that a partial demand for funds would be met, now the retirees of the university are threatening to move the High Court for contempt of proceedings against the university authorities for non-payment of their pension for the past three months.

The police conducted raid on residence of ETT candidates here last night and arrested Lachhman Singh from his house at Ward No 11 and Ishwar Chander, resident of Ward No 7, in connection with the agitation by the Panjab Unemployed ETT Teachers Union. Karanveer Singh, chief, Panjab ETT teachers, Fatehgarh Sahib, general secretary Mohider Pal Singh, state committee member Barinder Singh, vice-president Shiv Preet Sharma and executive member Avtar Singh, Jagjot Singh, Vijay Kumar, Gurpreet Singh and Baljit Singh have criticised the harassment of unemployed teachers at the hands of the police.
