Decline in swine flu cases

Despite prevailing cold weather conditions, conducive for breeding of the H1N1 virus, the mortality rate due to the swine flu has reduced by 60 per cent. There has also been 40 per cent decline in number of serious cases during the past eight days.

The Sadar police today arrested three youths for allegedly abducting a 19-year-old girl and stealing 330 gm of gold and Rs 6 lakh in cash from Alamgir village. The accused has been identified as Mandeep Singh, who is the resident of the same village.

Two held with fake CDs
Jagraon, January 9
The Jagraon police this evening raided a kiosk near the bus stand and arrested a person for selling fake CDs and DVDs. The police also recovered a computer and arrested its owner for making fake CDs and copying music on memory chips.

10 booked for armed assault

The Jagraon police yesterday booked 10 persons for armed assault in which three got serious injuries inflicted by sharp-edge weapons.
