Himalayan Queen passengers looted

Beware of robbers while travelling in trains from Haryana to Delhi as they pull chain and loot passengers in moving trains. This has happened with the passengers of Himalayan Queen who were travelling from Kalka to New Delhi last night. Similar incidents have been reported in the past as well.

Acting swiftly, a team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested two suspects, Ashok and Sandeep.

A senior official of the RPF, on the condition of anonymity, said the team investigating the incident had managed to identify all suspects who would be arrested soon.

The accused, it is learnt,boarded the train at Sonepat and alighted at the Holabi Kalan area in New Delhi. They are in the 22-28 age group, he said.

Nine mobile phones and a gold chain were recovered from their possession, he said. The officer said that a case of looting has been registered at the Sabzi Mandi railway station in the RPF police post. Its an inter-state gang operating in Haryana and Delhi.

Just after the RPF received the information, a police team was deployed for patrolling on the railway track and one of the suspects moving there was caught. He was identified as Ashok. His interrogation led to arrest of his accomplice, Sandeep. They disclosed names of their other accomplices.

According to spokesman of the Northern Railway, Anant Swaroop, the train Himalayan Queen, 4096 was coming from Kalka to New Delhi when a few youths inside a general coach number NR 05457 pulled the chain just after it left the Sonepat Railway Station. As its movement slowed down, a few others entered the coach and started looting the passengers.

They got down at Holambi Kalan in Delhi.
