Advani’s time up: Parrikar

Panaji, September 22
L K Advani, who a few months ago was BJP's prime ministerial candidate, was today compared to a "rancid pickle" by a senior party leader, who also said his "period" was over.

"At present Advaniji's innings is matured. It is like Sachin Tendulkar. However matured innings he may play, sometime he will have to stop playing. It is like a pickle which takes a year to mature. But if it is kept for two years or so, it gets rancid," said former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in an interview to a local television channel.

He also said "Advaniji's period is more or less over... another couple of years and after that he should act as a guardian or mentor for the party. He should be available whenever we need him. His capability and experience should be available for BJP."

Parrikar, who is even being speculated as a possible successor to Rajnath Singh as party President, however, denied his reference was to Advani claiming it was a general comment. — PTI
