Wednesday as Premier Sheikh Hasina granted a "general
amnesty" to renegade soldiers, hours after the rebels
demanding pay hike stormed their headquarters here and

Jumbo chargesheet filed Mumbai, February 25
The Mumbai police today filed a
jumbo chargesheet having more than 11,500 pages in the Mumbai terror
attack case. The chargesheet has been filed in English, Hindi and Urdu
before Metropolitan Magistrate M J Mirza.
Three-year
jail for Sukh Ram New Delhi, February 25
A CBI court today sentenced former
Central minister Sukh Ram to a three-year jail term and imposed a fine
of Rs 2 lakh in a corruption case, filed 13 years ago, following
recovery of Rs 3.61 crore in cash from his residences here and in Mandi,
Himachal Pradesh.

killed as bus falls into river

At least 39 passengers were killed and 13 others injured, some of them
seriously, when a bus rolled down into the Neeru river, a tributary of
the Chenab, on Pul-Doda-Bhaderwah, near Doda this morning. The accident
on the first day of the opening of the Batote-Kishtwar National Highway,
which was closed after a portion of the highway caved in near Trungal on

rural posting a must for PG docs Centre admits to shortfall of 8
lakh doctors New Delhi, February 25
All postgraduate medical aspirants
would be required to undergo a mandatory rural posting from the next
academic session. Admitting to a shortfall of eight lakh doctors in the
country and a consequent adverse impact on health delivery to villagers,
the government today said it had made it compulsory for all MBBS
pass-outs applying for post-graduation to do a combined rural posting
for four months each in primary health centres, community health centres
and district hospitals under the state government.
