PM’s bypass surgery successful
New Delhi, January 24
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is stable and responding after a team of 11 experts successfully conducted a coronary bypass graft surgery on him here today. The redo bypass operation lasted 11 hours during which the cardiac experts successfully removed multiple blockages in the coronary arteries of the Prime Minister.

Special prayers for Manmohan
Virtually the whole country prayed and havans were organised on Saturday for the early recovery of Prime Minister Manbmohan Singh. In Amritsar, SGPC president Avtar Singh said an ardas was performed at Harmandar Sahib for good health and early recovery of Dr Singh. The prayers were attended by Prime Minister's brother Surjit Singh Kohli.

Defence Minister AK Antony will perform all customary duties of the Prime Minister during Republic Day, the government said today. This clears the confusion over the issue as it was expected that senior ministers would carry out several tasks of the Prime Minister in his absence and Antony was one among them.
