question of going soft: Pranab Says terror fugitives
can be handed over under Extradition Act of 1972 New Delhi, January 16
External Affairs Minister
Pranab Mukherjee today clarified that New Delhi was firm on its
demand that Pakistan should hand over to India the perpetrators
of terror acts, including those involved in the ghastly Mumbai
strikes. “We have never given up the demand that perpetrators
of terror acts should be extradited to India. There is no
question of any climb down,” he said in a statement.

itself into two businesses even as the financial colossus
slipped deeper into the red, posting losses for the fifth
straight quarter. The company which posted more than $8-billion
loss for the December quarter said in statement, “Today, we
announced that we would separate the company, for management
purposes, into two separate businesses Citicorp and Citi
Holdings.”

US plane survives crash-landing in freezing Hudson river Passengers safe,
officials blame it on wayward geese
New York, January 16
All 155 passengers and crew aboard
a US Airways Airbus A320 had a miraculous escape after the plane ditched
into a frigid Hudson river off westside Manhattan within seconds of
take-off, apparently after it ran into a flock of geese.

Bush President George W. Bush
bade farewell to the American people in his final address to the nation
on Thursday night saying if given the chance there are things he would
do differently. But he was quick to point out that he had “always
acted with the best interests of our country in mind.” Speaking before
a friendly audience in the East Room of the White House, a sombre Bush
insisted the “setbacks” he had suffered were not unusual for the
presidency.

The cost of therapeutic drugs
affecting the common man is all set to go down, with the government
today prescribing monographs for 73 new drugs. These monographs have
been included in the latest edition of Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP), the
official book on standards of identity, purity and strength for drugs
that are imported, manufactured, stocked or exhibited for sale and
distribution in India.
Rizwanur Case Todis get bail

New Delhi, January 16
The Supreme Court on Friday granted
bail to Kolkata industrialist Ashok Todi and his brother Pradip Todi in
connection with the Rizwanur Rahman suicide case. The apex court told
the Todis to surrender their passports and not to move out of Kolkata
without prior permission of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
They have also been hindered from communicating or influencing witnesses
connected with the case.
