A Jaipur judge has
taken judicial activism to new heights by seeking permission
to prosecute a former Union Home Minister, serving Defence
Minister, National Security Adviser, Chief of Southern Naval
Command and Chief of Coast Guard and Mumbai Police
Commissioner besides several others stating it was, prima
facie, their criminal negligence that led to the Mumbai
terror blasts.

With the fledgling civilian
government not in control of the situation in Pakistan, it is
becoming increasingly frustrating for India to deal with the
neighbouring country in the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attacks.
Contradictory statements emanating from Islamabad, both from the
government and the media, are being seen by New Delhi as yet another
attempt by Pakistan to deflect the attention from the issue of
terrorism after already having acknowledged that Ajmal Amir Kasab,
the lone surviving terrorist captured in the Mumbai strikes, was a
Pakistan national.

accepts failings in 26/11 coverage

Lack of training to those
covering a crisis, anchors crossing the line between professionalism
and personal biases and commercial compulsions are some of the
issues that came to the fore as experts introspected media’s role
in covering the Mumbai terror attacks here. Accepting that there
were “some shortcomings” in the coverage of the attack that held
the city hostage for three days starting November 26, the panellist
said, “we should learn from mistakes and not allow anyone to
exploit our weaknesses.”
