PC to take dossier on 26/11 to US

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram would visit the US next week with a dossier of evidence compiled by Indian investigative agencies on those who perpetrated the Mumbai attack.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said that war with Pakistan was not going to solve any problem, but at the same time renewed India’s appeal for handing over the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in response to the wishes of all civilized nations across the globe.

Mega builders in Haryana would now find it difficult to gain out of land acquisition process. The builders, until now, used to enter into collaboration-agreement with landowners after increase in plot prices due to initiation of acquisition process, apply for licence to set up colonies, and then get the land released.

The Punjab government has decided against giving land at concessional rates to Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) for its farm-to-fork project. This land, measuring over 1,100 acres across the state, was given to the corporate house by the previous Amarinder-led Congress government.

SPO killed on third day of encounter
Jammu, January 3
A Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed today in the ongoing encounter between the Army and the terrorists, who were firing from well-fortified bunkers at Mehandar in Poonch. According to Jammu-based PRO of the Ministry of Defence SN Acharya, SPO of the Special Operations Group (SOG) Naresh Kumar was killed in the ongoing encounter this morning.

Talks fail, truckers’ strike from today

As talks among representatives of the Union Surface Transport Ministry and the All-India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) failed this evening, 70 lakh trucks will go off roads from tomorrow midnight. At the meeting, Transport Ministry officers were led by its Joint Secretary SK Dash.
