Certain miscreants robbed a jeep driver of Rs 1.75 lakh from near Namdev Chowk in broad daylight here today.

97 cases of smuggled liquor seized

The district police arrested two persons in a case of liquor smuggling and seized 97 cases from them late last night. The police impounded Indica and Qualis vehicles used in the liquor smuggling.

Class V students Kavya Khurana and Ajayvir Singh of CT Public School participated in the state-level poster-making contest organised by the Bhakra-Beas Management Board on “Save electricity and conserve energy” at Chandigarh and won cash prizes of Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000, respectively, along with a certificate and a gift hamper from the Punjab government.
