Laxmi, the elephant of Asian Circus, would no longer entertain children as she died at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University
(GADVASU) hospital here this afternoon. Laxmi had been ill since November 13 and was being treated at
GADVASU. It had fallen due to exhaustion on the bank of the Sidhwan canal three days ago and veterinarians tried to save her. When she started responding to treatment, she was shifted to the hospital.

Body recovered

The local police today recovered the body of a man from the Link Road. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained. He was reportedly living in the verandah of an abandoned shop for the past more that 15 days. He is stated to be an astrologer by profession. A few shopkeepers had got him admitted to a local private hospital for treatment.
Airman’s body fished out from canal

The police yesterday recovered the body of an airman of Halwara. The deceased has been identified as Warrant Officer Subhash Kumar (38) of Andhra Pradesh. He had been missing from his house since November 10.
