India to free 21 Pak prisoners
Tribune News Service

Amritsar, November 10
Freedom will mean a little for the four mentally challenged Pakistan prisoners, including two women, who will be released on November 14 through the Attari-wagah joint check-post.

Superintendent of Amritsar Central Jail S P Singh told The Tribune that the government of India had cleared all decks to repatriate 21 Pakistan nationals lodged in Amritsar and Gujarat jails. Out of the 21 prisoners, 17 are languishing in Amritsar jail and four belong to different jails in Gujarat.

Farzana, who was arrested for carrying fake currency last year while travelling in the Samjhauta Express, was sentenced to seven-month imprisonment. She completed her term in jail in November last year, but she continued to languish there due to bureaucratic and diplomatic wrangles. Finally she will be freed along with others during this week.
