Defence minister A.K. Antony today expressed “serious concern” over the alleged involvement of a serving Army officer, Lt Col Srikant Purohit, in the Malegaon blasts even as the security agencies were now trying to track down the source of the RDX used in the blasts that occurred on September 29.

Five JD(U) MPs resign over violence against north Indians
New Delhi/Patna, November 7
Five JD (U) MPs today resigned from the Lok Sabha protesting against the unabated attacks on north Indians in Maharashtra, particularly Mumbai. Reacting to the resignations, the RJD dubbed it as a “drama” to gain political mileage while the BJP said it would not follow suit and quit.

Turbulence in Cong over Alva remarks

AICC general secretary Margaret Alva, who created a flutter yesterday by alleging sale of party nominations in recent Assembly polls in Karnataka, may be in for some trouble. AICC media department chairman Veerrapa Moily today said Alva’s case had been referred to the central disciplinary action committee of the party headed by defence minister A.K. Antony.

Relief for Industry
Furnace oil price cut by Rs 9,000
Chandigarh, November 7
Providing a huge relief to the recession-hit industry, the ministry of petroleum and natural gas has slashed the prices of furnace oil (black oil) by Rs 9,000 per metric tonne. Furnace oil is a widely used fuel in the manufacturing sector.

New Delhi, November 7
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh leaves on a three-day visit to the Sultanate of Oman and Emirate of Qatar tomorrow to further boost the bilateral ties between the countries.

Indian Army to hold joint exercise with China
New Delhi, November 7
India and China, have finalised the programme for their first ever joint exercise on Indian soil. Sources said the exercise will be conducted in the second week of December and it is likely to be conducted in Belgaum Karnataka.

The Delhi High Court today refused to pass any order on a plea seeking judicial inquiry into the Jamia Nagar police encounter in which two suspected terrorists allegedly involved in Delhi serial blasts were killed.
