Man who sent terror emails held

Mumbai, October 6
The Mumbai police said today that they had arrested the main accused, who sent emails to various media houses just before the recent spate of blasts on behalf of terror outfit Indian Mujahideen.

The police said, the hacker named Mohammed Mansoor Asgar, was a techie employed with a top multinational company. Joint police commissioner Rakesh Maria told reporters here that Asgar was employed at a relatively senior position and was drawing a salary of Rs 19 lakh per year.

In addition to Asgar, the police has arrested 15 more suspects, who were involved in carrying out the blasts in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Surat, and Bengaluru, Maria said. He added that the terrorists were planning to carry out blasts during the ongoing Navratri celebrations in Mumbai. All of them were said to be working for major corporate houses.

A number of explosives, arms and ammunition and laptops have been recovered from the arrested persons, the police said. However, Riyaz Bhatkal, alias Roshan Khan, the main accused in the case is yet to be arrested.
