Srinagar, August 22
The Hurriyat Conference-led Coordination Committee called for a three-day general strike beginning tomorrow. The committee, which took out the ‘Eidgah chalo’ march today, also gave ‘Lal Chowk chalo’ call for Monday.

Though the Eidgah rally attracted a huge crowd, people dispersed without hearing any speech from the senior separatist leaders.

Earlier, the separatists had undertaken ‘Muzaffarabad Chalo’ march and ‘TRC chalo’ march in protest against the “economic blockade” of the Kashmir valley and targeting of a community in the Jammu region.

The transport services, though, has been exempted from the bandh call. Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq reiterated the demands, including right of self-determination. He also demanded the withdrawal of troops and revocation of all the laws granting special powers to the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
