Truck driver dies in mishap

A truck driver was killed in an accident on the G.T Road here today. The deceased was identified as Rakesh Kumar (32), a resident of Kaithal in Haryana.Rakesh was killed when his truck hit a barricade at the roadside.—TNS

The Jagraon police has booked two persons on a charge of assault. Sukhwinder Singh and Vicky of Malak allegedly trespassed into the house of Bhupinderpal Singh of their village and assaulted him on Friday.The local police has booked them and registered a case under Section 452, 323, 427, 506, 34 of the IPC.

280 kg poppy husk seized

Gurmeet Singh, alias Pilla, a Youth Akali Dal leader and Bassian village panch, was arrested after 280 kg poppy husk was recovered from his house yesterday. A case under the NDPS ACT has been registered against the accused.—OC
