The SAS Nagar deputy commissioner has recommended that an inquiry be conducted against Industrial Cables Limited, promoters of Ivory Towers building complex in Sector 70 here. Apartment owners in Ivory Towers are waiting for registration of their property even eight years after they bought their flats and are paying a commission to the promoters to allow them to sell their flats.

Boy’s death: DC marks inquiry
Panchkula, July 1
A day after a 15-year-old boy was washed away in Kaushalya river, the Panchkula deputy commissioner has marked an inquiry into the incident. XEN, irrigation, has been asked to conduct the inquiry and submit the report within a month. He has been asked to find out the technical reasons which led to the boy’s death so that such incidents do not occur in future.

HC directs law ministry to give nod to court complex
Chandigarh, July 1
Coming down heavily on the Union Government for inordinate delay in according administrative approval for setting up a court complex, a Division Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court today directed the union ministry of law and justice to furnish its consent within a week.

Youth gets 3-year jail for bid to rape
Chandigarh, July 1
Additional District and Sessions Judge R.S. Attri today sentenced three-year imprisonment to Radhe on charges of attempting to rape. A fine of Rs 1,000 was also imposed on the accused. According to prosecution, the 20-year-old Radhe had allegedly tried to rape a seven-year-old girl in 2004. Both victim and accused were neighbours and lived in Khajeri village.

The police today booked a resident of Mohali following complaints of booth capturing in ward number 2 of Banur. The accused has been identified as Gurvinder Singh alias Lali (25) who was sent to jail after being produced in a local court.

The police has booked 15 people for stone pelting, injuring two cops and breaking windowpanes of a PRTC Bus in Sirhind during the MC elections on Monday evening. Three people have been booked by name while others are unidentified.

The soft sheen of Bollywood playback and ghazal maestro, Penaz Masani’s voice came across like a cool moon beam as she rendered the timeless classic creations of Mirza Ghalib’s “Dil-e- nadaan tujhe hua kya hai” and many more at the MRA school auditorium here today. The ghazal concert was organised by the State Bank of India, local head office, to commemorate the 203rd raising day of the bank. After the chief guest Ajay Swaroop, chief general manger, SBI, performed the ‘shama roshan’ ceremony, the acclaimed ghazal queen took the center stage only to mesmerise the art lovers.
