device. The 200-gram machine, to be fitted under the dashboard of a car,

8 booked for murder
Jagraon, June 9
Kuldeep Singh, Harpreet Singh of Toosa, Nikka Singh, Deepa Singh of Pakhowal along with six others have been charged for murder under sections 302, 307, 148 and 149 of the IPC by the Raikot police. Dharminder Singh and Kuldeep Singh of Pakhowal were attacked in their village with sharp-edged weapons on June 8.
Brick-kiln owner booked

A brick kiln owner has been booked for not releasing the payment of 25 people due to which a pregnant migrant woman, whose husband was working in Bhullar Bricks at Chak Maphi village, died. A case has been registered under Section 304-A of the IPC has been registered against brick kiln Manjinder Singh.
Farmers worried about labour shortage
Migrants demand Rs 1,500 per acre; sowing starts tomorrow
Ludhiana, June 9
With the paddy session beginning tomorrow, the labour shortage has once again become a matter of concern for farmers. The labour, which charged Rs 600 per acre (paddy sowing) last year, has suddenly started demanding Rs 1,500 per acre, adding to farmers’ worries. It is expected that wages will increase further in the coming days.

Farmers let down over denial of agri package
Ludhiana, June 9
Farmers in the state have expressed resentment over Centre's reported refusal to include the state in a Centre-sponsored agricultural package. The farmers said the step-motherly treatment meted out to them had dampened their spirits, but they would struggle till the Centre realised their worth and made the state gain from the National Food Security Mission
(NFSM). They will start a state-wide agitation in support of their demands.
