Kolkata, June 3
A devastating fire broke out today at Mehta building in the Burrabazar area, which destroyed a large portion of the complex.

The fire, which started at around 11 am, lasted for over four hours and altogether 15 fire tenders engaged in the firefighting operation, finally brought the fire under control after 3 pm.

Though the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, some owners suspect that the fire occurred due to short-circuit.
