3-day police remand for Rajesh Talwar
His family seeks CBI probe

Noida, May 27
A Noida court remanded dental surgeon Dr Rajesh Talwar in police custody for three days today. Although advocates of Dr Talwar tried their best for bail, pleading that the Noida police had framed the dental surgeon in the murder of his own daughter Arushi and domestic help Hem Raj, the court rejected the bail application.

An emotional Dr Talwar had pleaded with the court, “I am innocent, please save me from the police.” Dr Talwar broke down and wept bitterly in the court room while pleading his innocence.

Now, why does the police want to take him on remand? Because the police is yet to recover the clothes of the killer, which could be carrying stains of blood, the weapon used in murder and the cell phones of Arushi as well as Hem Raj. All these are crucial for the prosecution story to hold good in the trial of the case in court as there are no eyewitnesses of the murders.

According to sources, the police might also interrogate Dr Rajesh Talwar in the presence of his wife Dr Nupur Talwar as well as Dr Anita Durrani, his colleague dental surgeon with whom, as per the police, Dr Talwar was allegedly having an affair.

Both Dr Anita Durrani as well as Dr Nupur Talwar have, however, rubbished the “affair story”. Dr Nupur has also asserted that her husband could never be the murderer, more so of his own daughter.

According to police sources, the police remand could enable the investigators to get tough with Dr Talwar in their interrogation, if need be, because these three days were very valuable and crucial for the Noida police to make their prosecution story foolproof.

The recovery of three articles - killer/killers’ clothes, the murder weapon and cell phones of Arushi and Hem Raj -- are also very crucial for the success of the case in the trial court.

Arushi’s friends and classmates from DPS School, Noida, took out a march from the school to the residence of their slain class fellow in Sector 25, Jal Vayu Vihar, Noida, remembering their dear friend. Arushi’s friends and DPS students also thanked the media for having taken up Arushi’s case vigorously.

Meanwhile, the family of Dr Rajesh Talwar today demanded a CBI probe into the incident. Claiming that the dentist was “totally innocent”, Rajesh’s brother Dinesh Talwar said the investigation would reveal the truth with its fairness.

Urging the Uttar Pradesh government to order the police to desist from any further questioning into the matter, Rajesh Talwar’s lawyer Pinaki Mishra said the family apprehended that the police might use “illegal” means to extract confessions.

“It might use means, which were not legal to cover up its shortcomings or save itself from getting further embarrassment. We want that the case be handed over to the CBI for a fair trial,” he said.
