Tribune News Service

Mumbai, May 2
Two policemen were suspended today after Maharashtra’s forest minister Babanrao Pachpute hoisted the national flag, which was upside down at the Maharashtra Day function in Vidarbha district yesterday.

According to sources, assistant sub-inspector Tulshiram Chandrabhan Ambhore and constable Ajay Dayaram Akharao were found guilty of fixing the tri-colour upside down ahead of the event. The error was noticed a few minutes after the flag hoisting ceremony and was corrected immediately.

The authorities have filed cases under the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act, 1971, against the two policemen.
