Satish Seth

Kaithal, April 3
Three most wanted criminals of Surender Geong gang involved in the murder of a Kaithal plywood dealer, Narinder Arora, in March 2006 will be soon extradited from South Africa.

The dealer was murdered outside his shop for not meeting the demand of Rs 50 lakh of the gang of extortionists.

The South African court and the ministry there has given green signal for the extradition of three extortionists to India.

The then Kaithal SSP, Navdeep Singh Virk, now SSP, Sonepat, who had been pursuing the case of extradition of Baljeet Badsikri, Joginder Geong and Surinder Pehalwan, confirmed the development.

He said he was in constant touch with executive director Interpol, national commissioner, South Africa, Indian high commissioner, high commissioner, South Africa, commissioner, Durban police, and director, public prosecutor, Johannesburg, to ensure the extradition of wanted criminals to India. He said a team of the Haryana police would soon bring them to India.

It may be recalled that all three accused had been declared proclaimed offenders by the court and Baljeet Badsikri, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case and other cases, had succeeded in escaping from the police custody and later joined the gang of Surender and started demanding extortion money from doctors and businessmen by issuing them threats.

He was wanted by the police in about dozen cases. Surrender Pehalwan was wanted in one more case and Joginder Geong, brother of Surender Geong, was wanted in nine cases. The Haryana police had declared an award of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 75,000 for the arrest of Baljeet Badsikri and Surender Geong, respectively.

Virk said the police had arrested 32 persons on the charge of their involvement in the murder of Arora and had recovered nine mobile phones, nine sim cards, three motorcycles, one Tavera, pistols and live cartridges from gang members.

A sharpshooter of this gang, Rajesh Buddanpur, was killed in the police encounter in Jind district on June 7, 2006, he added.
