Spiraling inflation has
set the government into action. Finance secretary Dr D
Subbarao has said Cabinet Committee on Prices will meet to
take view on the same on Monday. The finance secretary stated
this when he was responding to a query on inflation as to
whether any fiscal steps to control rising prices would be
forthcoming today.

As Beijing continues to batter him with charges of “masterminding” the Lhasa unrest, the Dalai Lama today suggested that China itself could be behind the violence and expressed readiness to work with the Chinese authorities to restore peace in Tibet.

budget okayed after sound and fury Amritsar, March 29
The SGPC passed its Rs 387-crore
budget even as opposition members, including those from Haryana, staged
a boycott at the Teja Singh Samundari Hall here today. The moment
general secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur asked for its approval after
completing his speech, opposition members Manjit Singh Calcutta and
Karnail Singh Panjoli stood up for seeking permission to give their
comments.
