Mumbai, March 20
The Central Administrative Tribunal has stayed the suspension of former Punjab DGP Sarbdeep Singh Virk by Punjab government in a case of alleged disproportionate asset and asked the Central, Maharashtra and Punjab governments to file their reply within two weeks.
Tribunal member Jog Singh, who heard the application, has held that “after repatriation of the applicant (Virk) on March 10 last year, the state of Punjab does not have any administrative control over the applicant and he comes directly under the control of the state of Maharashtra.”
Virk, 1970 batch IPS officer, became DGP during the Congress rule in Punjab.
