Amarjeet Singh Saini (48), Punsup district manager (DM), has committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan at his rented house in Prem Nagar here.
Saini, in a suicide note recovered from his pocket, said he was committing suicide due to pressure of official work. But he did not hold anybody responsible for his suicide.
Punsup employees came to know about the suicide today morning. Actually, when the DM did not reach office, the department driver went to his house from the office. He knocked at the door after reaching the DM’s house, but no one responded.
At this, he informed some Punsup employees, who reached there
and informed the police. The policemen broke open the door and they saw the DM’s body hanging from the ceiling fan.
At this, the additional SHO of city police station informed his seniors and SP (D) Sukhwinder Singh also reached the spot. The police informed Saini’s wife Sarbarsh Kaur, who along with their son reached Kapurthala today afternoon.
SP Chaman Lal said the police had started proceedings under Section 174, CrPC.
In his suicide note addressed to his wife, Saini also reportedly asked her not to make any attempt for their son Honey to get job in Punsup. He also apologised to his wife regarding his suicide.
