New Delhi, February 27
Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day today after members belonging to various political parties repeatedly disrupted proceedings demanding relief for debt-ridden farmers in the country.

Both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were first adjourned till 12 noon and then for the day as MPs from the Opposition BJP, Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party vociferously demanded a package for the farm sector and a waiver of loans of farmers.

In Lok Sabha, MPs belonging to the RJD, an ally of the Congress-led UPA, stormed into the well of the house to protest against attacks on north Indians in Maharashtra.

RJD members Vijay Krishna, Sadhu Yadav and Ramkripal Yadav wanted safety and security to north Indians in Maharashtra in the wake of the agitation by Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.

While the BJP and Shiv Sena MPs brought up in the two Houses the issue of suicides of farmers in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region, the Samajwadi Party demanded water supply for irrigation to the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh.

In Lok Sabha, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee warned the MPs that he would take action against them from tomorrow if they gathered near his podium. In Rajya Sabha, the Chair decided to adjourn the proceedings after failing to pacify the MPs who gathered in the well of the House.
