LS panel allows cops to check papers of 5 MPs
New Delhi, February 27
In a development which would help the Delhi police to take forward its probe into the human trafficking case, the Privileges Committee of the Lok Sabha has granted permission to forensic and handwriting experts to examine the original documents related to recent foreign trips made by five MPs who are facing charges of human trafficking.
Nuclear deal clock is ticking: Gates

Visiting US defence secretary Robert Gates hoped the domestic deadlock on the civilian nuclear deal will be broken soon as the clock is ticking. Zardari graft cases closed
The Pakistan government today closed corruption cases against Asif Ali Zardari shortly after the Supreme Court dismissed all petitions challenging Musharraf’s controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance
(NRO) promulgated last October, even as Zardari’s PPP and two coalition partners jointly demanded that President Pervez Musharraf immediately convene the National Assembly.

298 air passengers stranded in Delhi
New Delhi, February 27
As many as 298 passengers of Air India’s flight to New York via London were stranded here in the morning. The crew of their flight refused to take off, saying their duty hours were over.
Passengers of AI-111, the Delhi-London-New York flight which was
scheduled to leave at 7.20 am this morning, were left waiting at the
airport for hours following a delay in the flight and the crew’s
refusal.
SAD disrupts Parliament
New Delhi, February 27
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) said today that it would continue to disrupt proceedings in Parliament till the Centre meets its demand for waiving loans of debt-ridden farmers in Punjab.
“Parliament will not be allowed to function till the demand for loan
waiver of poor farmers of Punjab is accepted by the Central
government,” SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal said in a statement here.

Punjab score highest in school dropout rate

Punjab has the highest rate of school dropouts in the region. The state has been left behind by Himachal Pradesh and
Haryana, and strife-ridden Jammu and Kashmir is fast catching up. Analysis of the enrolment ratio and dropout figures released by the ministry of human resource development yesterday shows that among the states, Himachal Pradesh is on the top in the region and, in many ways, the country.
