The day before the birth centenary celebrations of Shaheed Bhagat Singh was marred by police lathicharge and stone -pelting between agitating farmers and the police outside the Jallianwala Bagh when Vande Matram was being sung there in the presence of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here today.

After holding an internal brain- storming session last night the BJP leadership in Punjab has decided that it will formally take up with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal the issue of improving fiscal health of the state and how urban population - known as BJP’s traditional vote bank - was being made to bear the burden of the power tariff hike to subsidise the farm sector.
