The residents, mostly comprising of ward Nos 38 and 40 said Mr Kaypee had failed to fulfill any of their demands including relaying of roads, sewage pipes and streetlights. Mr Amarjit Singh, resident of New Surajganj West colony in ward No 40, said the MLA had allowed certain big-shots in the constituency to install streetlights right in front of their homes but had not conceded to their demand of putting these up at appropriate places.

Mr Manoj Sabharwal said over 50 voters of Sri Guru Ravi Dass Samaj Bhalai Kendra too had decided to not to vote for Mr Kaypee in case he gets the ticket. He further lamented that the residents had asked the MLA to get the height of high tension wires passing across their rooftops raised. The residents had even expressed urgency on this matter, but Mr Kaypee allegedly did not turn up to redress their problem. He said despite the fact that accidents had taken place the problem had not been solved till date.

Mr Binder Kumar, a resident of Abadpura falling in ward No 38, and Mr Mahinder Singh from Kartar Nagar, said the residents would prefer voting for the Mayor, Mr Surinder Mahey, in case he got the Congress ticket. They explained that the Mayor had helped them on several occasions. In case the ticket was retained by Mr Kaypee, they would think of other alternatives.
