External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee categorically told Parliament today that India's foreign policy is determined "solely by our national interests which is our sovereign right and will not allow external scrutiny of or interference with the strategic programme."

Bush to sign nuke deal on Dec 18
President George W. Bush is expected to sign into law on December 18 a historic Bill that overturns more than three decades of US policy by permitting civilian nuclear trade with India. The Bill won overwhelming approval from both the Senate and the US House of Representatives last week.

Manmohan defends as CWC attacks rise in prices

Sensex tanks 404 pts
Mumbai December 12
Continued bear hammering for the third consecutive day today caused Sensex to close below the psychological 13,000 mark. The benchmark index fell 404 points to close at 12,995.

Andhra CM to shed 618 acres of family land
Hyderabad, December 12
Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has announced today that he was surrendering 618 acres of family land in native Pulivendula in Kadapa district under the Land Ceiling Act. Speaking to reporters on the Assembly premises, Mr Reddy said that he had written to the Kadapa Collector on Monday to take over the excess lands.
