Rainfall: Weather was dry over the region.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: The maximum temperatures change little. They were markedly above normal in east Rajasthan, appreciably above normal in Jammu and Kashmir and west Rajasthan, above normal in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 41°C recorded at Sriganganagar (Rajasthan).

Past 24 hours change: The minimum temperatures fell in Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere. Departure: They were above normal in Haryana, Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 18.8°C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of October 8 2006: Isolated rain/thundershowers are likely in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of October 8 2006: Mainly clear sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 37°C and 22°C respectively.
