Petro prices likely to go down
Tribune News Service

Mumbai, September 23
Prices of petrol and diesel may fall in the coming weeks if international prices of crude oil continue to fall, Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora said here today.
Speaking to mediapersons at a function, Deora said the government expected petroleum prices to continue falling. “There can be a drop in the prices in the coming weeks, but I cannot give a specific time-frame, nor can I say to what level it will fall,” Deora said.

He added that Indians would benefit if the prices of crude fell from $ 58 per barrel to around $ 50 or so. The minister, however, pointed out that oil companies lost as much as Rs 72,500 crore by not pegging the domestic petroleum prices to the international prices.
