Captain meets Sonia on MSP hike
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, August 2
Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today met Congress president Sonia Gandhi to apprise her of the political situation in the state in the wake of Assembly elections early next year.

Sources said the Chief Minister briefed Mrs Gandhi about his government’s plans to counter the offensive of the SAD-BJP over “inadequate” hike in the minimum support price of paddy and cotton.

The SAD-BJP had yesterday forced the adjournment of the Lok Sabha protesting against the inadequate hike in the MSP. Mrs Gandhi was in the House when the issue was raised. In the Rajya Sabha, the issue of inadequate hike in MSP was raised today by Opposition members.

Sources said the Chief Minister told Mrs Gandhi that the state government was not satisfied by the hike announced in the MSP.
