6 chargesheeted for Varanasi blasts

The Varanasi police has filed chargesheets against the six accused, including the mastermind Mohd Waliullah, in the Sankat Mochan temple blast case and another related case of recovery of a pressure cooker bomb from Godowlia locality on March 7.

The twin blasts in Varanasi on March 7 at the Sankat Mochan temple and the Cantonment railway station killing 20 and injuring at least 100 are being investigated as three different cases. Two pertain to the blasts and the third to the recovery of the pressure cooker bomb.

The charge sheets have been filed in only two of these cases while the district police are still investigating the Cantonment railway station blast. The charge sheets were filed in the Varanasi court before Chief Judicial Magistrate P.N. Srivastava.

The six accused persons, including Mohd Walilullah, have been charged under Sections 302, 307, 324 and 326 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 3/4/5 of the Explosive Substances Act.
